February 3, 2026
A leopard was spotted roaming at night near 7th Cross in Anjanapura, Bengaluru at around 2 a.m. on February 2. A CCTV camera captured its movement. Forest Department officials confirmed the sighting and said the leopard might have come from nearby forest near Roerich Estate. A team was sent to search the area after the alert but they could not trace the animal. "The spot where the leopard movement was seen is a residential area that is sparsely populated. There are only a few houses with many vacant plots and there are many bushes. The leopard may have come here to take cover in the bushes," said an official. The official added, "We conducted a thorough search in the area, the leopard has most likely gone back to the forest area." They also said a cage might be placed if the leopard appears again in the area. The CCTV footage has been widely shared on WhatsApp, warning residents to be alert from dawn to dusk and keep a close watch on children and pets.
