A 15-year-old White Tiger named Sharan died on Tuesday at the Kakatiya Zoological Park in Hanamkonda. The tiger passed away after fighting long-term age-related health issues and a sudden cardiac arrest. Zoo curator B. Mayuri said Sharan had been treated for two months for high blood pressure, heart problems, and kidney issues common in older big cats. "Despite continuous medical care by the veterinary team, the animal succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest," she added. Mayuri, a Forest Range Officer (FRO), noted that the average lifespan of a White Tiger is about 14 years. However, thanks to improved medical care and conservation efforts at the zoo, Sharan lived up to 15 years. Sharan came to Kakatiya Zoo from Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, and was placed in the tiger enclosure in July 2025. Officials said a post-mortem will be done as per the Chief Wildlife Warden’s instructions and standard procedure. A detailed report will be sent to the Head Office in Hyderabad.
