In an unusual move, police in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, filed an abduction case against a "jinn," a supernatural spirit, after an 11-year-old boy went missing. The boy disappeared from his home on January 21. After ten days with no news, his father went to Taxila Police Station and filed a First Information Report (FIR). In the FIR, the father said local supernatural beings called jinns forced his son to run away. He added this was not the first time such an event happened. The jinns had "abducted" his son several times before. The boy returned home after previous incidents, but now ten days had passed with no sign of him. This led the father to formally accuse jinns of kidnapping. Similar reports have appeared before in Pakistan's legal system. In Lahore, a mother filed a case against jinns after her married daughter went missing. The case went to court. A special police team was set up to investigate the six-year-old case of the missing woman, believed to have been abducted by a jinn. The team, led by Lahore Investigation DIG Zeeshan Raza, was assigned to find and recover her. These strange cases highlight the unique challenges and beliefs in the region.
