On February 1, a large number of pilgrims from Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra gathered at the Saundatti Yallamma temple in Belagavi district to celebrate the Bharat Hunnime festival. Many stayed overnight in the temple town. People arrived by bus, bullock cart, and many walked from their villages. Some carried pots of water from the Malaprabha river to offer at the shrine of Satyemma Devi at the base of the hills. Devotees also bathed at Jogula Bavi, a well on the Saudatti-Belagavi road, before climbing the mountain to the temple. Long queues formed as pilgrims waited hours to enter. Some cooked in temporary tents and carried prasad to the temple sanctum. Families enjoyed browsing stalls selling fruits, flowers, and toys across the premises. The Saundatti Yallamma Temple Development Authority and district officials ensured facilities for the crowds. Mobile charging points and nearby towers were set up. Temporary dormitories prepared pilgrims for overnight stays. A one-way traffic rule was introduced on the main road, with parking arranged on both sides. Belagavi district Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said, "We have taken up repair of roads and construction of new roads in Saundatti town and in surrounding areas. Work on building a Yatri Nivas, animal shelter and a mass cooking centre is on." This helped the devotees enjoy a smooth and organized festival experience.
