South Central Railway Accelerates 18 Big Projects Across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Worth ₹27,342 Crore

South Central Railway (SCR) has rushed ahead with 18 major infrastructure projects across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Covering 1,763.26 km in total, these projects will cost ₹27,342.44 crore. They include new railway lines, doubling and tripling tracks, plus major capacity upgrades.
A new fourth line on Secunderabad-Wadi and a third line expansion over 173.40 km are approved at ₹5,012 crore. One big project is the Mudkhed-Dhone line, including Dhone bypass and electrification, covering 417.88 km and costing ₹4,686.09 crore. Part of this stretch between Basar and Navipet (17 km) is done.
Out of 292 km in Telangana for Fakrabad-Bolarum and Mahabubnagar-Kurnool sections, work is ongoing. A new 173.61 km line from Pandurangapuram costs ₹3,591.76 crore. The third line between Kazipet and Vijayawada (219.64 km) costs ₹3,103.99 crore, with 195 km finished and 25 km almost done.
Another key project is the Kazipet-Balharshah electrified third line (201.04 km) at ₹2,909.89 crore. About 183 km is done, with 19 km left. The Manoharabad-Kothapalli new line, 151.36 km costing ₹2,780.78 crore, has 76 km completed.
The Errupalem-Namburu new line (56.53 km, ₹2,047.40 crore) is waiting on land acquisition, with 5 km in Telangana. The Bibinagar-Guntur double line with electrification (239 km, ₹2,480 crore) is now in tendering.
Motumari-Vishnupuram double line (99.68 km, ₹1,595.55 crore) and Bhadrachalam Road-Dornakal double line (54.65 km, ₹770.12 crore) are in land acquisition stage. MMTS Phase II extension to Yadadri (33 km, ₹412.26 crore) will start soon after land acquisition finished.
Other ongoing works include various bypasses and rail-on-rail bridges in key areas, showing SCR's strong focus on upgrading rail infrastructure in the region.
