February 1, 2026
Shivamogga Lok Sabha member B.Y. Raghavendra called the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman a “landmark Budget” that will turn the dreams of 1.4 billion people into a real Viksit Bharat. He said the budget is not just numbers but a clear plan for India's growth. Despite global economic challenges, the budget promises India will stay the fastest-growing major economy. Mr. Raghavendra expressed his happiness over the focus on farmers. He said, “The Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Yojana will revolutionise the rural and agrarian landscape. The special support schemes announced for coconut and cashew growers provide much-needed stability for our farmers.” He also praised the allocation of ₹5.98 lakh crore for transport. "I welcome the announcement of seven high-speed rail corridors, including the two Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Chennai-Bengaluru. These projects transform Karnataka’s economic map, creating jobs and fostering seamless trade," he said. BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra also praised the budget. Watching the presentation at the BJP district office in Shivamogga, he stated that the Finance Minister had done well despite global conflicts. “There are many developments in the US that could impact the economy, including the Russia-Ukraine war and Israel-Palestine conflict. Considering these, the Finance Minister has presented a good budget. India is becoming the fourth-largest economic power in the world. The budget is based on the motto ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,’” he added.
