Union Budget 2026: Corporate Mitras to Boost MSMEs, New Agri Schemes Announced
February 1, 2026
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman revealed new plans to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) during the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1, 2026. The government will develop a cadre called "corporate mitras" in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. These corporate mitras will help MSMEs meet compliance requirements affordably. Professional bodies like ICAI, ICSI, and ICMAI will create short courses to train this cadre.
Sitharaman also announced the creation of an 'Education to Employment and Enterprise' Standing Committee to suggest ways to strengthen the services sector. On agriculture, the government plans to support high-value crops such as sandalwood and walnuts. A new coconut promotion scheme will aim to increase production. The Centre will also work with states to restore the sandalwood ecosystem's glory.
The Finance Minister summed up the government's approach by saying the focus is on "reforms over rhetoric." These initiatives aim to boost MSMEs and agriculture, creating more job opportunities and growth across India.
