Thousands Witness Jyothi Darshan at Vallalar's Sathya Gnana Sabha in Vadalur
February 1, 2026
Thousands of devotees gathered at Sathya Gnana Sabha, Vadalur, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, to see the special Jyothi Darshan on Thai Poosam day. The Sabha was founded by saint Ramalinga Adigalar, also called Vallalar. Devotees came from Tamil Nadu and nearby Puducherry to view the holy light placed in the sanctum sanctorum. Following tradition, free meals were served from the original kitchen where Vallalar kept an ever-burning stove to feed those in need. The Cuddalore district police made strong arrangements to control the large crowd and traffic. Around 10 watchtowers with 100 CCTVs were set up across Vadalur for crowd monitoring. More than 1,700 police officers, led by Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, were on duty for safety. The Jyothi Darshan is very special for followers of the Samarasa Sutha Sanmarga Sathya Sangam. On this day, seven colored screens covering the Sabha are removed one by one to reveal the holy lamp's light in the sanctum. Viewings were allowed four times on Sunday – 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 7 p.m., and 10 p.m., and once more at 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
