Indian Tech Immigrant Says Germany Isn't for Ambitious Career Climbers
February 1, 2026
An Indian tech professional living in Germany has stirred debate by saying the country is not good for fast career growth. On social media platform X, mayukh_panja said he often advises young Indians against moving to Germany if they want quick success.
He explained that Germany focuses on stability, not speed. "If you are ambitious and want rapid growth then Germany is not the place for you," he said. According to him, the system is sturdy but slow, with careful hiring, slow promotions, and difficulty firing workers.
He added, "So if you are the young, ambitious type looking to move fast and break things, and quickly climb up the corporate ladder, Germany will deeply disappoint you."
Mayukh_panja also highlighted challenges for Indian tech immigrants. He said, "As an Indian tech immigrant, certainly roles will not be available to you unless you become Germanized enough." Most companies prefer German speakers for even minor public roles, limiting opportunities for non-German speakers.
Despite these issues, he noted Germany’s strengths: "Germany rewards patience, long-term relationships, and work-life balance." He concluded, "Germany is a great place for those who are willing to sacrifice velocity for stability and risk minimization."
