Sharjah Police Seize Cars, Fine Eight Drivers for Dangerous Stunts on Rainy Roads
January 31, 2026
Sharjah Police have acted against eight drivers caught performing risky stunts on wet roads during recent heavy rain. These drivers put lives in danger as cars skidded and spun on slippery surfaces. The policemen seized multiple vehicles and imposed fines to stop such unsafe behaviour. The Traffic and Patrols Directorate warned against treating wet roads as playgrounds, saying "moments of enjoyment" can become deadly. Each offender faces a fine of AED 2,000, 23 black points on their licence, and vehicle impoundment for up to 60 days under federal law. Some also face fines of AED 3,000 for missing licence plates and longer impoundment. Police stress that accumulating 24 black points in a year may suspend licences and lead to court action. This crackdown aligns with similar efforts in other emirates like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, showing zero tolerance for dangerous driving for social media thrills or fun. Authorities urge the public to report unsafe driving by calling 999 in emergencies or 901 for non-emergency cases, emphasizing that road safety is a shared duty. Rain makes roads slick, reduces tyre grip, and increases braking distance, making cautious driving vital. Sharjah Police’s firm actions show a clear message: enjoy weather safely and drive responsibly to protect all road users from harm.
