January 31, 2026
Panic spread in Koti on Saturday morning as gunmen fired at a 26-year-old cloth merchant and snatched ₹6 lakh in cash near the State Bank of India's main branch. The victim, Rinshad from Nampally, was attacked around 7 a.m. while depositing money at an ATM. Sultan Bazar Inspector K. Narasimha said, "A group of men chased him, fired at his leg, then fled with the cash." Rinshad was rushed to hospital and is stable. Police quickly cordoned off the area and are checking CCTV footage to catch the attackers. Early probes suggest the assailants may be known to Rinshad. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
