First UAE-Kuwaiti Women’s Forum Launches in Abu Dhabi to Boost Women's Leadership and Sustainability
January 30, 2026
The first UAE–Kuwaiti Women’s Forum opened in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. It marks a new phase in cooperation focused on women’s empowerment, sustainable development, and future leadership. The event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the “Mother of the Nation.” It runs until February 3 during the ‘UAE–Kuwait: Brothers Forever’ Week, which lasts from January 29 to February 4.
Organized by the General Women’s Union and Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum gathers women leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from both countries. It aims to strengthen long-standing fraternal ties and boost cooperation, highlighting the growing central role of women in national development.
Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, gave the opening address on behalf of Sheikha Fatima. She said the forum reflects the UAE’s belief in joint efforts for a prosperous future. "This initiative aligns with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which emphasise cooperation, inclusion and shared progress as key pillars of development," she added.
The forum underlines deep UAE-Kuwait relations, linking a shared legacy with a future built on collaboration. It connects the UAE’s “Mother of the Nation 50:50” vision and Kuwait’s “Kuwait 2035” vision, focusing on investing in people to create stable, resilient societies. Al Suwaidi praised Kuwaiti women’s role in national growth. She called the event a qualitative milestone that boosts coordination and expands joint work for women’s issues and sustainable development.
The hybrid forum combines in-person and virtual sessions. It aims to widen dialogue and spotlight women’s roles in strengthening ties between the two countries. The program includes sessions on women and future-making, advanced technology, peace, sports, media, tourism, logistics, and supply chains. Climate action and renewable energy also feature, showing women’s expanding role in strategic sectors.
Alongside the forum, a five-day exhibition runs at the General Women’s Union headquarters. It showcases women-led projects, small businesses, and cultural heritage from both nations. The exhibits emphasize how women preserve heritage while turning it into sustainable economic and social value, echoing the forum’s broad goals.
