The Delhi High Court on Thursday, January 29, 2026, ruled that it has no territorial jurisdiction to hear IRS officer Sameer Wankhede’s defamation case against the web series "The Ba***ds of Bollywood." This series is produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav said, "This court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the plaint. The same is, therefore, returned to the plaintiff to be presented, if so advised, before a court of competent jurisdiction." Wankhede had claimed the series contained "defamatory content" aimed at settling personal scores and avenging Aryan Khan's arrest in a 2021 drugs case. He said the series, written and directed by Aryan Khan, was set up to malign him. Wankhede sued Red Chillies and Netflix for defamation seeking ₹2 crore in damages. He wants the money donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patients. In his lawsuit, Wankhede pointed out a scene where a character shows an obscene gesture, specifically a middle finger, after reciting "Satyamev Jayate" — part of the National Emblem. He said this violated the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which carries legal penalties.
