Driver Burnt Alive in Deadly Lorry-Tanker Crash at Kakinada Highway

A tragic accident occurred at around 2 a.m. on Thursday at Raavikampadu junction on the national highway in Kakinada district. Sk. Kalam, a 43-year-old driver from Murshidabad, West Bengal, was burnt alive after his lorry collided with a diesel tanker. The lorry was travelling from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam when the crash happened. Annavaram Sub-Inspector and Investigation Officer G. Sridhar said, "The lorry, driven by Mr. Kalam, hit the diesel tanker when Kalam attempted to avoid a shrimp-laden van that suddenly came onto the highway from the service road without any signal." Authorities found Kalam's charred body inside the lorry. Police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation.
