Six Churches Attacked in Telangana in January, TUCPA Demands Action

HYDERABAD: Telangana United Christians and Pastors Association (TUCPA) has raised alarm over attacks on churches in the state. TUCPA General Secretary Goneh Solomon Raj said six Christian worship places were attacked in January alone. These attacks occurred in Wanaparthy Town, Daulatabad, Ghatkesar, Jankampet near Narsapur in Medak district, Salkapur in Ghanpur mandal of Wanaparthy district, and Hathnoora in Sangareddy district. According to Mr. Solomon Raj, pastors and worshippers were abused and assaulted by alleged right-wing activists, and church premises were desecrated. He urged the police to take these incidents seriously and act against those responsible. He also reminded Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to introduce a law in the upcoming assembly session to curb religious hatred and punish those who insult other religions. Recently, clergy from Baptist, Mennonite Brethern, Methodist, Wesley, Lutheran, and other independent churches met to condemn these attacks.
