Donald Trump warned Iran that "time is running out" to negotiate a nuclear deal. He announced a "massive Armada" is moving fast and with purpose towards Iran. Trump posted this message on his social media platform, Truth Social. Iran's UN mission responded that Tehran "stands ready for dialogue based on mutual respect and interests." But it warned in capital letters that if pushed, Iran will defend itself and "respond like never before." Trump previously said he would "rescue" protesters facing a harsh crackdown in Iran. The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported nearly 6,000 people, including 5,633 protesters, have been killed since unrest began in December. Another group, Iran Human Rights (IHR), warned the death toll might exceed 25,000. Trump urged Iran to quickly "Come to the Table" and negotiate "NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS." Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful. The US naval force now in the Gulf is larger than one sent to Venezuela before the capture of Nicolás Maduro, Trump said. He added the force is "ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfil its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary." Trump warned that if Iran attacks, "The next attack will be far worse! Don't make that happen again." Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said diplomacy cannot work with military threats. He urged the US to drop threats and unreasonable demands for negotiations to succeed. BBC Verify tracked the US naval group led by the USS Abraham Lincoln arriving in the Middle East. In June 2025, US strikes under operation "Midnight Hammer" hit three Iranian uranium sites, slowing Iran's nuclear weapon efforts, US officials said.
