Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash at Baramati on January 28, 2026. Pinky Mali, a flight attendant, also lost her life. Pinky was among five onboard the Learjet 46 that crash-landed. Her father, Shivkumar Mali, said she promised to call him after the flight but that call never came. Pinky was flying with Ajit Pawar for the fourth time. The family rushed to Baramati after hearing the news. Other victims are Vidip Jadhav, Captain Shambhavi Pathak, and Captain Sumit Kapur. Vidip Jadhav was a police naik with Mumbai’s Special Protection Unit. Captain Shambhavi Pathak was the co-pilot and trained in New Zealand. Pinky had worked for Air India before moving to private charter flights. Shivkumar Mali is also an NCP activist, and shared memories of his daughter’s last conversation and work.
