Dubai to Build World’s First Gold Street in New Gold District
January 28, 2026
Dubai has announced plans to create the world's first Gold Street, located in the newly launched Dubai Gold District. This unique street will feature gold elements and serve as a major attraction for visitors and global traders. The project, revealed by Ithra Dubai, aims to unite the gold and jewellery value chain under one roof, from retail shops to bullion trading and investments.
Dubai is already a global gold hub and the second-largest physical gold trading centre worldwide, with exports worth about USD 53.41 billion in 2024-25. Key trade partners include Switzerland, India, the UK, Hong Kong, and Türkiye.
The Dubai Gold District is home to over 1,000 retailers across sectors like gold, jewellery, perfumery, and lifestyle. Big names such as Jawhara Jewellery, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Al Romaizan, and Tanishq Jewellery have stores there. Joyalukkas has opened its largest Middle East flagship store covering 24,000 square feet.
The district also boasts more than 1,000 hotel rooms in six hotels, making it convenient for international visitors. The Gold Street will add to this infrastructure, acting as both a cultural landmark and a commercial centre.
Officials emphasize that the Gold Street goes beyond luxury appeal. It will strengthen Dubai’s role in gold trading, attract a global audience, and enhance tourism. In 2025, the district welcomed visitors from over 147 different nationalities.
Issam Galadari, CEO of Ithra Dubai, said the district “brings together heritage, scale and opportunity,” serving a wide range of customers worldwide. Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, called gold “deeply woven into the cultural and commercial fabric of Dubai.”
Design and construction details for Gold Street will be revealed in phases. The project is expected to complement Dubai’s existing trade and cultural scene, not just stand alone.
Dubai’s Gold Street and Gold District highlight the city’s push to innovate in luxury retail, trade, and tourism. This initiative positions Dubai as a vibrant global stage that celebrates gold’s legacy while shaping the future of the precious metal’s commerce and culture.
