January 28, 2026
Applied Materials India, a part of Applied Materials, Inc., launched its new 8.06 lakh square-foot campus at International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPL) on Tuesday. Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge praised the investment, saying it adds to the state's leadership in Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) and chip design. He added, “Investments like this signal strong confidence in our semiconductor prowess and in the strength of our policy framework. With a strong focus on R&D and innovation, Karnataka’s semiconductor ecosystem is steadily moving up the value chain and strengthening India’s journey toward becoming a product nation.” Avi Avula, President of Applied Materials India, called this expansion a key step in growing India’s semiconductor research, product engineering, and innovation with industry and academic partners. The company highlighted its India Validation Centre, the only facility in the country to process 300mm wafers, used for testing and validating semiconductor equipment product designs. It also has an advanced Class 1K clean-room for detailed inspection, prototyping, and component qualification. These capabilities are supported by an AI Centre of Excellence in Chennai that employs advanced analytics and AI to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Applied Materials said its new Bengaluru campus, together with its other centers, shows a firm commitment to strengthening India’s semiconductor industry.
