Republic Day 2026 Celebrated with Flag Hoisting and Cultural Events in Hubballi Dharwad

On January 26, the twin cities of Hubballi Dharwad celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm. Municipal Commissioner Rudresh Ghali unfurled the national flag at Idgah Maidan, joined by several council members. Separate celebrations also took place at the municipal corporation, the Hubballi taluk panchayat, and other government offices.
At Nehru Stadium, Hubballi Urban Tahsildar Mahesh Gaste hoisted the flag during taluk-level events. He said, "Instead of asking what the country has done for us, we should ask what we have done for the country." He encouraged youth to gain knowledge and represent India worldwide. MLA Mahesh Tenginakai praised the Constitution and highlighted efforts like the Jal Jeevan Mission toward making India a developed nation by 2047.
KSDB Chairperson and MLA Prasad Abbayya said, "Dr. Ambedkar had given the nation a great Constitution." He stressed the need for secularism, cooperation, and respect for all religions while warning against divisions based on caste and religion. "India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity," he added.
Students who excelled in SSLC exams received awards, and many participated in a vibrant march past and cultural performances showcasing India’s achievements. MLC Pradeep Shettar was also present.
Various banks, public sector units, offices, and local residents took part by inviting notable guests to hoist flags and give speeches. The day featured fancy dress contests and other cultural events. Patriotic spirit spread as people displayed the national flag on their vehicles throughout the cities. Shops saw heavy crowds with special Republic Day offers.
