Eleven security personnel were injured when Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by Maoists exploded during an anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The blasts took place in the forests of Karregutta Hills on Sunday, January 25, 2026, officials said on Monday. Ten of the injured belong to the District Reserve Guard (DRG), a state police unit, while one is from the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite CRPF unit. The injured CoBRA officer, Sub-Inspector Rudresh Singh, and two DRG personnel sustained leg injuries. Three other personnel suffered splinter injuries to their eyes. All wounded have been admitted to a hospital in Raipur. In November last year, security forces set up a camp in Tadpala village within Usoor police limits near Karregutta, a known Maoist safe hideout. Earlier, during a 21-day operation in April-May 2025, 31 Maoists were killed and forces seized 35 weapons, 450 IEDs, detonators, explosives, medical supplies, electric equipment, and Naxal literature. The security operations continue to target Maoist strongholds in the dense forests of the region.
