HYDRAA Rescues 9 Workers Stranded on Mir Alam Tank Amidst Crocodile Threat
January 26, 2026
In a thrilling midnight rescue on January 26, 2026, HYDRAA saved nine workers and engineers stuck in the middle of Hyderabad’s Mir Alam tank. Their boat engine failed Sunday evening while returning from a bridge survey. The dense water hyacinth and darkness trapped them. Adding to the danger, crocodiles were spotted nearby in Babanagar and Bahadurpura areas. The stranded team dialed ‘100’ for help. "Hydra SFO Jameel and Team In-charge Swami maintained constant phone contact to prevent panic," said HYDRAA. The Disaster Response Force (DRF) used cell phone signals and flashlights to carefully navigate the thick vegetation. They rescued all nine in two trips. These workers were conducting soil tests and surveys for a ₹319.24 crore bridge connecting Shastripuram to Chintalmet, aiming to ease traffic near Zoo Park and Aramghar. KNR Constructions is handling the project, set for completion in 24 months.
