Forensic Report Confirms Sexual Assault in NEET Aspirant Death Case in Patna
January 25, 2026
Patna police investigating the death of an 18-year-old NEET aspirant confirmed sexual assault after forensic tests detected semen traces on the victim’s clothes. The student, from Jehanabad, was found unconscious in a girls' hostel room earlier this month and died after days in a coma. Authorities are now gathering DNA profiles from the semen to identify the accused. Meanwhile, two police officers were suspended for dereliction of duty. The victim’s family had long alleged sexual abuse and a cover-up by officials. The post-mortem report noted injuries and nail abrasions, casting doubt on initial claims that the death was caused by sleeping pills and typhoid. The Special Investigation Team continues its probe amid protests and growing public outrage. Dr. Binay Kumar, head of the AIIMS medical board reviewing the case, said crucial documents are still awaited before final conclusions can be drawn. The police had earlier arrested the girls' hostel owner as investigations deepen.
