Bengaluru is set for a grand 77th Republic Day celebration on Monday at Manekshaw Parade Ground. Over 1,100 participants from 37 contingents will show India's unity and diversity. The parade includes 11 platoons from the armed forces, nine police platoons, and seven school platoons.
March past participants include the Army, Air Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Tamil Nadu Police, Scouts and Guides, National Cadet Corps, Sevadala, and Police Band. Contingents from two charitable trusts—the Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled—will also march.
Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot will hoist the national flag, inspect the guard of honour, and deliver the Republic Day address. The event will see attendance from Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, and Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesha G.
Cultural performances include a Sankranti Sambhrama dance by Samyukta Pre-University College students and a Unification of India act by about 750 students from Bagalagunte Government School. The police department will also present a band performance.
Security is tight with over 2,000 police officers deployed. Officials installed 100 CCTV cameras and four baggage scanners. Ambulance, fire, emergency, and medical teams will stand by.
Citizens wanting to attend must get passes from the Seva Sindhu website. Around 2,000 e-passes have been issued for the public. Pass holders must carry their passes and government ID. Police ask all attendees to arrive by 8 a.m. No entry will be allowed after.
Traffic restrictions will apply on Cubbon Road from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., affecting stretches between BRV Junction and Kamaraj Road. Alternate routes are advised, and several no-parking zones are in place, including Central Street, Cubbon Road, and M.G. Road.
Bengaluru's Republic Day parade promises patriotic fervor, colorful performances, and smooth security for a safe, grand celebration.
