The Karnataka High Court has temporarily stopped the investigation against a Lamborghini driver caught in Bengaluru for rash driving and using an illegal silencer. Justice M. Nagaprasanna ordered the stay after 27-year-old Chiranth B.R challenged the case. The case started after a dashcam video showed the green supercar driving fast and zigzagging on Mysuru road. Chiranth, driving his father’s car, admitted he was “a little fast” but denied rash driving. His lawyer said the speed was around 60-70 km/h and the FIR was filed without any preliminary check. The video was posted on social media only after a month. Regarding the silencer, Chiranth’s advocate said the car had its noisy silencer removed and replaced officially after the Road Transport Officer fined ₹8,500. The replacement came with a certified fitting from the Lamborghini showroom. Justice Nagaprasanna noted the vehicle did move in a zigzag but said high speed in city traffic is unlikely. He also hinted the case might close if Chiranth agrees to community service, a new punishment mode under the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita for minor offences. The court will hear the petition again on February 6.
