The police have made special security plans for the Ratha Saptami festival at Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple in Arasavilli, Srikakulam. On January 24 night, 15 drones and 180 CCTV cameras will start monitoring pilgrims moving in and around the temple. Though the festival is on January 25, devotees will join the early morning Ksheerabhisekham from 1 a.m. on January 25. Pilgrims can line up from the night of January 24 itself. Srikakulam Superintendent of Police K.V. Maheswar Reddy said six senior officers, including an additional SP, will watch the drones and CCTV footage closely. A command control room is set up near the temple for real-time crowd checks. Police officers including 16 DSPs, 50 Circle Inspectors, and 170 Sub Inspectors will oversee security from 20 sectors. Altogether, 2500 policemen are posted across Srikakulam to handle security and traffic. Superintendent of Police Swapnil Dinakar asked all officials from revenue, police, municipal, and endowment departments to work tightly together. This is to ensure a smooth and safe darshan of the Sun God on the holy occasion of Ratha Saptami.
