January 23, 2026
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has completed its probe into the ghee adulteration scandal at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The SIT submitted the final charge-sheet to the ACB Court in Nellore, showing major progress in this 15-month-long case. The charges name Uttarakhand-based Bhole Baba Dairy, which allegedly joined hands with some TTD employees and external dairy experts. They reportedly supplied 68 lakh kg of synthetic, or fake, ghee to the Tirumala temple from 2021 to 2024. This fake ghee was estimated at ₹250 crore and was used to prepare laddu prasadam. The charge-sheet lists 24 people as accused and mentions 12 others involved in the scam. Among the nine arrested so far, six are out on bail. The CBI SIT was set up following Supreme Court directions to investigate this sensational case.
