10 Soldiers Killed in Army Vehicle Accident in Jammu and Kashmir; Tributes Paid

A tragic accident occurred on January 22, 2026, when an Army armoured vehicle plunged into a deep gorge at the 9,000-foot-high Khanni top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir. Ten soldiers lost their lives, and 11 others were injured. The Jammu-based White Knight Corps called the event "unfortunate" and explained that the vehicle slipped off the road while navigating difficult terrain in bad weather.
On January 23, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the technical airport in Jammu to honor the fallen soldiers. The ceremony was led by Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps. It was attended by officials from the Army, Indian Air Force, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, police, and civil administration.
Wreaths were placed at the coffins of the soldiers on behalf of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, and Inspector General of CRPF, Jammu, R. Gopal Krishna Rao also paid their respects.
The soldiers who died are Monu (Bulandshehar-Hindom), Jobanjeet Singh (Roopnagar-Ambala), Mohit (Jhajjhar-Hindam), Shailendra Singh Bhadoriya (Morar-Gwalior), Samiran Singh (Jhargram-Kalaikonda), Pradumna Lohar (Purulia-Ranchi), Sudhir Narwal (Yamunagar–Ambala), Hare Ram Kumar (Bhojpur-Bihta), Ajay Lakra (Ranchi), and Rinkhil Baliyan (Hapur–Hindom). Their bodies have been sent to their hometowns for last rites.
