On January 23, 2026, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched early morning raids targeting the homes and offices of the Luthra brothers and Ajay Gupta. These businessmen own Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora, Goa, where a tragic fire on December 6, 2025, took 25 lives during a party. The ED is probing money laundering linked to the club’s illegal operations and the role of its promoters. Searches are underway at eight to nine locations across Delhi and Goa, including Outram Lanes (Kingsway Camp), Tatvam Villas in Gurugram, and properties of then Sarpanch Roshan Redkar and Panchayat Secretary Raghuvir Bagkar in Goa. These officials allegedly issued illegal trade licenses and no-objection certificates facilitating the club’s operations. ED officials are also examining Surinder Kumar Khosla's premises to investigate money laundering involving illegal conversion of khazan land, the salt pan land on which Birch by Romeo Lane stood, according to agency sources.
