Three people have been shot dead in Lake Cargelligo, a town in central western New South Wales. Police began the operation after emergency services received reports of gunfire around 4:40 pm on Thursday. Authorities confirmed two women and a man died at the scene. Another man is seriously injured but stable in hospital. Lake Cargelligo is a small town with between 1,300 and 1,500 residents. Police have asked locals to remain indoors and avoid the area while the investigation continues. NSW police stated the incident is not being treated as terror-related. NSW MP Roy Butler, representing Barwon, expressed his sympathy. “It’s a terrible situation, and it’s still live, so we don’t have much information. My thoughts are with the victims and their families,” he said on social media. Police continue to work on the case with more details to come soon.
