Arun K Sandram, 35, an Indian man living in the US, died in a road accident on I-40 eastbound in Raleigh late Sunday night. The accident happened around 10:50 pm when Sandram was outside his parked car. Another driver hit him but was not badly hurt. Police said no alcohol was involved. The reason Sandram got out of his vehicle is still unknown as police continue to investigate. Sandram had recently moved to the US with his wife, Shiva Lakshmi. He played cricket with the North Carolina Cricket League team. His friend and teammate, Sandeep Machikatla, created a fundraiser to support Sandram's family. The fundraiser described him as "more than just a teammate — he was a true warrior, a passionate lover of cricket, and an inspiration to everyone around him." It added, "His untimely passing has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts. He leaves behind his wife, Shiva Lakshmi, who recently moved to the United States and now faces this unimaginable loss and journey alone."
