Kerala Hikes Ration Dealers' Salary and Commission From January 1, 2026
January 21, 2026
The Kerala government has increased wages for ration dealers. The maximum basic wage rose from ₹18,000 to ₹21,000. Commission rates went up from ₹180 to ₹270 per quintal. Dealers will get ₹6,800 for distributing up to 15 quintals monthly. For 15 to 45 quintals, they earn ₹9,000 plus ₹270 per quintal. Distribution above 45 quintals earns ₹21,000 plus ₹200 per quintal extra. Food and Civil Supplies Minister G.R. Anil said the changes start from January 1, 2026. The hike was agreed after talks with dealers' groups on Tuesday. This ended plans for a February strike. The government formed a committee led by a former Controller of Rationing to review the National Food Security Act and wages. A dealer organization said it welcomed the decision and will stop the joint agitation. This is a big relief for ration dealers across Kerala.
