An ICE officer in St. Paul, Minnesota, confronted a reporter on Sunday during an operation to arrest a child sex offender. The officer accused someone of following his pickup truck and honking, saying it interrupted their work. In a video shared on X, the officer said, “We’re here to arrest a child sex offender. And you guys are out here honking.” The reporter replied, “We’re not honking, we’re press.” The officer pointed to another vehicle, saying, “That vehicle right there is honking and impeding on investigations while we’re trying to arrest a child sex offender,” and added, “That’s who you guys are protecting. Insane,” before driving away. This happened amid protests in the Twin Cities after activist Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent on January 7. The government said Good tried to use her vehicle against the officer, who was clipped in the incident. Critics claimed she was not a threat and was just moving her car. At a recent protest, vandals spray-painted threatening messages against ICE and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem on a damaged car. The FBI has offered $100,000 for information about the vandalism. The video of the confrontation has gone viral, with some online users supporting the ICE officer’s comments about protecting children.
