Two Youths Killed in Head-On Crash Between Car and Lorry in Kasaragod, Kerala

Two young men died in a head-on collision between a car and a lorry on the national highway at Thekkilparamba near Chattanchal in Kasaragod, Kerala, on Tuesday. The police identified the deceased as Mohammed Shafeeq (23) of Derla, Karnataka, and Ashif Mohammed (23) of Ulla, Karnataka. Four people were in the car when the accident happened. The car was badly damaged in the crash. Rescue workers from Kasaragod used cutting tools to open the car and save the victims. Shafeeq and Ashif were taken to a private hospital in Kasaragod but died from their injuries. Two other passengers, Hashim (23) and Riyas (24) of Mangaluru, were also hurt and admitted to a private hospital in Chengala. Their condition is stable. The accident blocked traffic on the highway but it was cleared after the police and rescue teams finished their work. Relatives said the group was returning to Mangaluru after attending an event in Wayanad. The lorry came from the opposite direction and crashed into the car. The bodies were sent to Kasaragod General Hospital for post-mortem exams.
