An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck Leh in Ladakh on Monday, January 19, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) confirmed. The quake shook the region at 11:51 a.m IST and originated at a depth of 171 kilometers. The coordinates of the quake were 36.71 degrees north latitude and 74.32 degrees east longitude, as per the NCS's post on X. Residents in nearby regions felt the tremors. A police official said, "there were no reports about earthquake-related damage so far." Authorities continue monitoring the situation.
