CPI Leader Urges EC to Include All Eligible Voters in Revised Electoral Roll
January 18, 2026
On January 18, 2026, CPI leader Sathyan Mokeri called on the Election Commission of India (EC) to include all eligible voters in the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He emphasized that those already listed after the Special Summary Revision in September 2025 must remain in the updated voter list. Mr. Mokeri expressed deep worry that lakhs of people in the State have been left out of the voters' list due to alleged technical reasons. "Instead of excluding people from the voters’ list citing technicalities, the EC should include all eligible citizens, maintaining the values of democracy," he said. He also criticized the SIR process, calling it flawed and said that "dubious actions that deny a citizen’s right to vote cannot be justified in the democratic process." He pointed out that many vulnerable citizens, including fishers and daily wage earners, are at risk of being removed because they lack official age-proof documents. This, he said, is "an insult to the democratic order of our country."
