A boy, believed to be about 12 years old, was attacked by a shark at Shark Beach in Sydney's eastern suburb of Vaucluse on Sunday afternoon. He suffered serious injuries to both legs and was in critical condition. Emergency services arrived at about 4:20pm. First responders treated the boy with tourniquets at the scene. Intensive care and aeromedical units, including CareFlight helicopters, were also called. The boy was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick for urgent treatment. Following the attack, Shark Beach was closed. Police warned swimmers to stay out of the water.
