In a surprising incident in Ontario, Canada, five men—all sharing the surname Patel—were arrested for robbing a gas station. The suspects stormed the small community gas station with faces uncovered and took coffee machines, an oven, a microwave, and other items. The arrests happened at the crime scene as police arrived while they were still there. The arrested include 33-year-old Devangkumar Patel, 45-year-old Yogeshkumar Patel, 38-year-old Bhavinkumar Patel, 38-year-old Mitulkumar Patel, and 29-year-old Ricky Patel. They each face charges of robbery and mischief under $5,000. Police have not confirmed if the men are related. They have been released but must appear in court on February 26. A new employee at the gas station reported he was alone when the five entered. "They were just saying (to each other) to pick up the things and take them," he said. "They were quick – less than five minutes." After the men left, the employee contacted the store owner who then called the police. Officers found the suspects still on site and arrested them immediately. Constable Jeff Hare of the Ontario Provincial Police told The Free Press, "I definitely wouldn’t say this is a common occurrence. That was a significant number (of people arrested). That was definitely alarming." This case has sparked conversations across Canadian social media due to the shared surname and the boldness of the crime.
