On Saturday, a 36-year-old man and his two sons drowned in a lake at Nayanthangal village near Cheyyar town, Tiruvannamalai. The man, K. Thangaraj, a private firm manager, and his sons T. Rajesh, 7, and T. Latthesh, 5, slipped into the water while fishing. They visited the village from Chennai for Pongal holidays. The children went deep into the lake and got stuck in the slush. Although Thangaraj could not swim, he entered the water to save them but drowned. When they did not return, Thangaraj’s wife, Divya Bharathi, searched for them and found the children’s slippers by the lake bund. Alerted police and firefighters recovered the bodies. A case is registered, and investigation is ongoing.
