UAE Unveils Blue Visa: 10-Year Residency for Environmental Champions Alongside Golden Visa
January 16, 2026
The UAE now has two distinct long-term residency visas: the Blue Visa and the Golden Visa. The Blue Visa, launched in February 2025, offers a 10-year stay for individuals making a mark in environmental protection. It targets environmental activists, scientists, and entrepreneurs advancing sustainability without mandatory investments. Applicants get a special six-month multiple-entry visa to complete paperwork. It recognizes impact, not wealth. Eligible groups include award-winning advocates, UAE Scientists Council-approved researchers, green business owners, and sustainability professionals. The application is simple and quick via the ICP website or app.
The Golden Visa, available since 2019, provides 5 or 10-year residency to skilled professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, and exceptional talents. It allows family sponsorship, work freedom, and no strict travel limits. Depending on the category, some investment or business ownership proofs are required. Applicants apply online with necessary documents for UAE authority verification.
Choose the Blue Visa if you contribute significantly to sustainability and want merit-based recognition without financial demands. Opt for the Golden Visa if you seek long-term stability, family security, and professional independence with possible investment commitments. Both visas underline the UAE’s push to attract top global talents but serve different aims: the Blue Visa honors environmental impact, while the Golden Visa rewards economic and professional contributions.
