CBI officers on Thursday, January 15, 2026, carried out searches at various places in Kolkata related to a bank fraud case. The raids included the residence of a businessman in New Alipore and locations in New Town near the city. Five CBI teams were involved in the operation. An officer said, "The coordinated operation aims to gather documentary evidence and other materials relevant to the investigation." The main goal is to track the flow and final use of the funds linked to the fraud. A large number of central forces personnel accompanied the CBI officers to prevent any disruption during the search. The searches began after receiving specific information related to the case, the officer added.
