The Mahalakshmi temple in Kammasigadam, located in Ranasthalam mandal of Srikakulam district, is preparing for its annual festival from January 27 to 29. Pilgrims from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam will gather to offer special prayers to the presiding deity. Locals believe that Mahalakshmi was the second wife of Gurappa, the commander in chief of the Vizianagaram princely state. She is said to have sacrificed her life to protect the area. In honor of her bravery, she has been enshrined as the main deity of Kammasigadam village. BJP MLA N. Eswara Rao and temple trust board members recently released posters announcing the event. Mr. Eswara Rao stated, "Several devotional and spiritual activities would be organised during the three-day celebrations." The festival is expected to draw many devotees and fill the temple with vibrant religious energy.
