16 Minor Students From Bihar Rescued at Palakkad Railway Station Shifted to Kozhikode Welfare Home
January 14, 2026
On January 12, police rescued 16 minor boys from Bihar at Palakkad railway station. These boys, aged 10 to 13, arrived without valid documents. They were reportedly brought by a charitable educational institution facilitating their journey to Kerala. Along with the 16 boys, five other students were sent home with their parents. The rescued boys, from Kishanganj district in Bihar, have now been shifted to the Child Welfare Home in Kozhikode district. The Child Welfare Committee and District Collector have ordered an inquiry into the Kozhikode-based institution involved. This investigation will be led by the District Child Protection Officer to check the registration and other details of the institution. Police sources revealed that a similar incident happened last year when 12 girls were rescued in Ernakulam while being brought to Kerala. The police and child protection units continue their efforts to ensure child safety during such transfers.
