The 14th State conference of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) started on Tuesday at Kanathil Jameela Nagar (AKG Hall) in Kerala. Mariam Dhawale, AIDWA all-India secretary, officially opened the three-day event. The welcome address was by reception committee general convener T.N. Seema. P.K. Sreemathy, AIDWA all-India president, gave the organisation’s main report. State secretary C.S. Sujatha shared the State’s work report. Vice-presidents U. Vasuki and K.K. Shailaja were also present. The first important resolution called to end the Union government’s neglect of Kerala. Another resolution protested the disruption of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The conference will close at noon on Thursday with the election of new office-bearers.
