To manage the heavy passenger rush during the Sankranti festival, South Central Railway (SCR) is running special trains on multiple routes from January 14 to 19. Train no. 07480 departs Cherlapalli at 10 a.m. on January 19 to reach Kakinada Town by 9.30 p.m. The return train no. 07481 leaves Kakinada Town at 11.15 p.m. the same day and arrives at Cherlapalli by 11.45 a.m. next day. These trains stop at Nalgonda, Miryalguda, Guntur, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and other stations.
Another pair, trains 07482 and 07483, run between Cherlapalli and Tirupati on January 18, halting at stations like Jangoan, Warangal, Khammam, and Nellore. They carry first AC, second AC, AC II Tier, AC III Tier, sleeper, and general second class coaches.
The Anakapalli-Cherlapalli special trains (07479, 07477, 07478) operate on January 18 and 19, stopping at several stations including Guntur, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry, with AC 2 tier, AC 3 tier, sleeper, and general coaches.
SCR also operates Janasadharan unreserved special trains 08567 and 08568 between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam on January 14, 16, 17 and 18, with stops at Duvvada, Tuni, Samalkot, Eluru and other stations.
On the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route, special trains 07475 and 07476 run on January 17-19, halting at Secunderabad, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, among others.
SCR's public relations officers Nusrat M. Mandrupkar and A. Sridhar shared these details. SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava urged staff to focus on crowd control and safety at stations. He asked field supervisors to monitor booking counters and have Railway Protection Force deployed for passenger security.
These steps aim to ensure smooth travel for thousands flocking home and to festive events during Sankranti.
