A devastating fire hit Sarlankapalle village in Rowthulapudi mandal, Kakinada district, destroying 38 thatched homes. About 120 villagers lost their houses during the Sankranti festival. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called the incident a “deeply tragic event.” He held an urgent meeting with ministers and officials to plan relief. The CM said all affected families will get ₹25,000 immediately from Tuesday. He also said new houses will be given to those who lost homes. Until then, victims will get temporary shelter, food, and full support. Special camps will help replace lost documents like Aadhaar cards. Minister for Home Anita updated the CM on the ongoing relief work. Naidu asked district officials and ministers to closely track relief efforts for timely help. Former CM and YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed “extreme distress” over the fire. He demanded ₹1 lakh ex-gratia for each family and urged quick provision of shelter and food. Jagan also called for new houses and continuous support to victims until permanent homes are built.
