Maharashtra BJP Files Complaint Over Illegal Hoardings Ahead of Pune Polls
January 13, 2026
Maharashtra BJP general secretary Rajesh Pande said the party has filed a complaint with the Election Commission. The complaint targets illegal hoardings allegedly put up by their ally, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and other parties in Pune. These hoardings appeared ahead of the civic body polls set for January 15, 2026. During a meeting on January 11, Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis ordered party workers not to put up illegal hoardings. He told them to avoid installing flex banners that spoil the city’s beauty. The Pune BJP unit promised on January 12 to make the city flex-free. Mr. Pande added, "In the run-up to the municipal corporation elections, the Nationalist Congress Party and other parties have put up unauthorised flex banners across the city. This amounts to a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. We have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission in this regard." Elections to 29 municipal corporations in the state, including Pune, are scheduled for January 15.
