Political parties in Ernakulam have asked for more time to fix problems in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The demand came during a meeting led by District Collector and District Election Officer G. Priyanka, attended by Electoral Roll Observer Tinku Biswal on Monday. MLAs T.J. Vinod, Anoop Jacob, Uma Thomas, and Anwar Sadath raised several concerns. They pointed out issues like hearing those excluded from the SIR draft list, changing polling stations, and enrolling new voters. T.J. Vinod said, "the online process for enrolment through Form 6 was cumbersome and time-consuming." He added that the process would be easier if booth-level officers accepted applications offline. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president and MP Hibi Eden criticized the Election Commission for several lapses. He stated, "There are many objections to the currently published absent, shifted, and deceased (ASD) voters list." Eden has written to the Chief Election Commissioner for urgent action. He also claimed, "It has been observed that BLOs have not actively participated in the process in many places. There are 2,06,061 people in the district in the no-mapping category. This is a large number. The current stance taken by the Commission is to sabotage the election process."
