Sankranti Brahmotsavams Kicks Off at Srisailam Temple with Grand Rituals
January 12, 2026
The Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam lit up as it started the seven-day Sankranti Brahmotsavams on Monday, January 12, 2026. The festival will run until January 18. During this time, special abhishekams and archana will honor Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba Devi.
M. Srinivasa Rao, Executive Officer of the Srisailam temple, said the festivities began at 9:15 a.m. with Yagasala Pravesam. Trust board members, chief priests, acharyas, vedic scholars, and officials joined the event inside the temple grounds. This was followed by Shiva Sankalpa, a prayer for timely rains, good health, long life, and the overall well-being of the people.
In the morning, priests conducted Ganapati Puja, Chandeeswara Puja, Kankana Dharana, and other rituals. The evening saw Ankurarpana, a sacred offering, followed by the grand Dhwajarohanam ceremony. This event symbolically invited all the deities to witness the Brahmotsavams and is considered the festival's most significant ritual.
