A 23-year-old man named Adhi was hacked to death early Monday inside the waiting area of Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennai. Adhi, who had more than seven criminal cases including murder charges, was sleeping near the maternity ward. Police say the killing happened due to old enmity. Adhi had come to meet his classmate Suchitra, 21, whose premature baby recently died at the hospital. Around 3:30 a.m., Suchitra’s husband Surya and his associates attacked Adhi with weapons, causing fatal injuries. The attackers fled but police later arrested two suspects and questioned several more. Additional Commissioner K.S. Narenthiran Nair said Adhi had been out on bail for 10 days and that hospital staff had removed him after a fight. The police also suspect that Adhi’s previous murder case could be linked to the motive. Authorities continue their search for the remaining accused. Meanwhile, officers have brought in two women for questioning tied to the incident.
